Red square wheel horse forum.
I reviewed all the pictures that I took for my C160 and found no clue that there is a safety seat switch for this wheel horse. I cannot contact the previous owner. I do not know if there was a bypass safety switch on it. However, when I connected the safety seat switch to another wheel horse seat - the PTO ran and the engine did not die.

As for value, I think $400 sounds a bit high and don't consider chrome to be practical for tractors. · If you had a 312-A, instead of a 312-H, this would be correct. The "A" used an Eaton 700 transmission, while the "H" uses the Eaton 1100. The gearboxes are the same (Toro referred to them as Transaxles in the manual), but the transmission (or "pump" they are sometimes called, though that is incorrect) is very different.

That 32" deck was used in 64. We had the exact same deck brand new on a 604 when I was a kid. That one has the individual belt adjustment rods for the belt. I believe it is friction fit as I cannot see a set screw. I tried vise-grips to attempt to get it to break loose, but I was reluctant to try too hard to avoid damage. Any tips on removing it?
