Seems like there's something to the LR design. LR has 4x4 2.4ghz and pro has 2x2 on 2.4Ghz (which is the signal you most likely use when you are further from the AP. While more antenna doesn’t mean faster or greater reach, they might be using larger antennas in older LR models. AmpliFi is just mediocre hardware with a ripped off clone of OpenWRT on it that Ubiquiti slapped their name on and refuses to honor the licensing agreement for the code they took.
