Military Studies is also known by various names like defence and strategic studies, military. science, war and national security studies, war and strategic studies etc. Military Studies is currently taught only in a handful of colleges / universities in India. This raises two questions. One, what is the importance of Military studies?.

This class is part of the Basic Course for the Army ROTC pre-commissioning program. These parts of the program (MS 239 – MS 259) are for the Military Science Level II students (sophomores). This class is not a prerequisite for enrollment in MS 259 but it is strongly encouraged.
