A scoundrel can be good, with the intimidation-deception build. Rogues have many skills, so having high stealth, deception and intimidation will be easy enough. It is doable. Our ranged rogue has fun and its our skill monkey and likes range even though in melee he does more damage. But yeah, the optimazed ranged classes are fighter and ranger.

I would build thrower with 2 returning star knives. Take ranger architype because hunted prey ignores second range interval penalty and ther is a lvl 4 feat that doubles your interval going you effectively an 80 ft range on your hunted prey. Also there is the feat that let's you do a finisher 2 on adjacent enemies.All but the strangest Rogue builds depend on Weapon Finesse or ranged weapons, so make sure to put a lot of resources into dexterity. Con: Essential for Fortitude saves and hit points, especially if you're in melee. Int: Essential for skill ranks. 8+ seems like a lot, but it's nowhere near enough. Elves do still make good rangers, but only if you are focused on ranged builds, where the con flaw is less important (rangers get 10hp base, so they are still plenty tanky). A precision elf ranger with a crossbow can be quite strong, especially with some of the ancestry feats in LOCG.

It also deals less damage a standard crossbow with Crossbow Crackshot, but doesn't need to be reloaded between shots. 1) paladin archer: we are in undead/taited heavy campaign so that might help. 2)Ranger: a lot of archery feats and animal companion that can be boosted to your lv through boon companion (but thats one feat gone then.) 3) fighter: a lot of feats as well as some nice advance weapon training options and archetypes.
