Starting to feel so depressed and discouraged. I’m FTM at 38 weeks today and at my appointment dr said I’m 0 cm dilated, 70% effaced and baby is between -2 and -3. He doesn’t think he will be coming anytime soon. I’m so miserable and just ready to meet my little one. Any other moms feeling this way or...I mean, likely not much longer than a few weeks if you’ve had your cervix checked. Our BEST guess as to when you’ll have your baby is your due date. We often give too much credit to dilation in the whole equation of things. Here are a few facts for you:Dilation is when your cervix opens (dilates) and the opening is measured in centimeters. During the first stage of labor, the cervix opens and thins out (effaces) to allow the baby to move into the birth canal. During the second stage of labor, your cervix is fully dilated, your baby is descended down the birth canal and you will be encouraged ... Doctor said it could be tonight, could still be 2-3 weeks away, no way of knowing. I think I’ve had a few isolated contractions, but they were pretty mild. Have been losing mucus plug gradually for two weeks. In the absence of scientific information about this, I thought I’d at least ask you all for instincts and anecdotes. 🙂.

Every baby is different so it would be impossible to guess.With my second I was only 1 cm at my 37 wk appt and had her at 38+3 and a 3 hr labor. With #3 was dialated to .5 cm at my 37 week appt, went to hospital at 37+6 with contractions every 2-3 min, they sent me home and my water broke at 38+2 and was still only 2 cm when I first got admitted but baby was delivered like 8 hrs later. ….
