I am not certain if this applies to the 8th generation Malibu, but on my 7th generation Malibu I discovered when you put the battery cover back on make sure to get tab on the fender side of the cover into the slot in the body. If you miss it, you may get an annoying rattle from under the hood.

Earlier in August, I went to pop the trunk on our 2015 Malibu to put grocery bags inside. It popped with the fob, but wouldn't close. I took it apart before realizing that it might be a fuse.
