+1 on exercising the spare tire cable at least once a year. Mine was rusted tight, and even though I had no spare tire, it was a pain to get the mechansim out! The bolts are stainless steel, so I was not able to drill them out. Had to use a 4 1/2" angle grinder to cut them off.
