I think the show is much better with Prue, as others have said the show is much darker in seasons 1 - 3 (and to some extent 4). But I think that has more to do with Constance M. Burge, because she was the big boss until the end of season 3 and then left because she was butting heads with Brad Kern, who wanted sillier storylines, a lighter tone, and more focus on sex and the women's love lives.
