Fume Ultra Greatsword or Greatsword? Hey, I'm somewhat of a noob and still on my first playthrough at 50+ hours with a strength build. In DS2 I had a strength build dual wielding greatswords with powerstance and it was awesome for PVE and surprisingly decent for PVP.I specifically struggle to dodge his AoE attack where he plunges his sword into the ground. If I'm near him, I can never dodge it without taking damage. I also struggle with his single slow swing, but not as much. I'm playing as a melee/strength character. I'm using the Ultra Greatsword. Any tips or general help would be greatly appreciated.The Craftsmans hammer is a great Strength weapon, yes. It has plenty of reach, higher than average poise damage and counter strength, and its raw damage is only slightly less than the Homunculous Mace; It is absolutely a superior weapon for pure strength builds. However: it responds rather poorly to infusement.

The zewihander traded damage for versatility in ds2 sotfs. It ties the greatsword for the longest range, has a better moveset AND weighs half as much, while not requiring as high stats to use. Plus, its still buffable and infusable.
